Medical Cannabis Program

The New Mexico Department of Health allows patients with the following medical diagnoses to be permitted to use medical cannabis.  Patients must be certified eligible to participate in the program by a medical provider, and must renew the certification annually.

Currently, there are 16 qualifying conditions: severe chronic pain, Inflammatory Autoimmune-mediated Arthritis, painful peripheral neuropathy, intractable nausea/vomiting, severe anorexia/cachexia, hepatitis C infection currently receiving antiviral treatment, Crohn’s disease, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s disease), cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, damage to the nervous tissue of the spinal cord with intractable spasticity, epilepsy, HIV/AIDS and hospice patients.

When requesting an appointment to be evaluated for the Medical Cannabis program, please download and complete the Patient Intake form, and bring it with you along with copies of your medical records from your primary care physician or specialist who sees you for the condition under which you will apply to the program.
